Kratom Ban Update – Georgia Man Arrested, Florida Bill to Ban Kratom


The DEA made Kratom front page news in 2015 when they announced it would be placed on the Schedule One list, effectively making the popular coffee like herb illegal.

After massive public backlash, the DEA decided to rescind their threat and called on the FDA to determine how to handle the substance in the US.

Pending Kratom Ban Florida

In this video update, John Bush of Brave New Books discusses Florida’s attempt to ban Kratom with House Bill House Bill 183 would add Kratom to the controlled substance list. It would make selling, delivering, importing, or manufacturing kratom would be a misdemeanor offense. The effort is spear headed by a mother who lost her son to suicide. It has already been banned in Sarasota, FL.

At this time, Kratom is illegal in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Kratom Arrest Alabama

A Georgia man was arrested in Alabama at a traffic stop for having kratom. A canine unit found an “unknown” substance, the driver of the vehicle identified the substance as kratom, he was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and given a DUI.

Donald Trump Kratom Petition

American Kratom Association has created a ppetitionto ask Donald Trump to keep Kratom legal. Trump ran on a ticket of deregulation and “draining the swamp” so advocates are hoping this will be his first instance of deregulatory action.
